With a background in public health and managed care network contracting, Katy knows from experience that optimal payer relationships and reimbursement allow providers to do their best work where it matters most: serving patients. As an enthusiastic problem-solver, Katy focuses on building impactful relationships and effective communication avenues to drive desired outcomes. Katy’s successful approach to managed care negotiations involves first developing a deep understanding of the fundamental elements of the situation and then utilizing data as a storytelling tool to drive a compelling narrative and secure optimal results.
Prior to joining ECG, Katy worked as a senior network contract manager at Optum Behavioral Health, where she led network contracting and reimbursement initiatives across 11 states. Specifically, Katy drove end-to-end contracting of new groups and agencies; supported reimbursement renegotiations, averaging over $150,000 in monthly saving for the health plan; and implemented new payment methodologies. In addition, Katy helped transition reimbursement for opioid treatment programs in Washington from fee-for-service to bundled payments and implement multistate mental health parity rate improvements that increased CPT code reimbursement by 5% to 15%.
